Vision

Our vision is “Yesterday’s educational system will not meet today’s, and even less so, the need of tomorrow” as voiced by Prof. D. S. Kothari.  Let thousand flowers blossom.

Beside a long volatile international border and the wild Sunderbans, Barasat Govt. College started its dream run in an humble manner way back in 1950.  It had its home in some hostel buildings of Barasat Government School.  As soon as the tree took its root, it had rich foliage.  An Intermediate College was upgraded, catering to the needs of the people who could not afford going to Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.  Soon various Pure Science and Life Science subjects were taught.  Then a purely under-graduate college was upgraded.  People of neighbour-hood were amazed to note this sea-change when the Department of Botany offered the Post-Graduation.  The necessary order from the D.P.I. is pending regarding the introduction of P.G. Courses in Bengali, Zoology,  and Physics.  Our vision now is the smooth upgradation, education for all, irrespective of gender, caste, class and faith.
